Heritage Days | Visit the Permanent Representation of Lithuania to the EU

The twin buildings, which currently house the Permanent Representation of Lithuania to the EU, are among the few original structures remaining on Rue Belliard/Belliardstraat. They date back to around 1855. They were likely designed by Tilman-François Suys, the architect and town planner responsible for the layout of the Leopold Quarter. The remarkable balance and proportion of the Renaissance-inspired elevations offer a unique glimpse into 19th-century noble life. Some changes were made to Building No. 43 in 1861, and a balustrade was added in 1937. In addition to exploring the buildings' architecture, visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the Lithuanian diplomatic service and visit spaces currently used for official diplomatic functions. The guided tour will introduce visitors to Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, one of the greatest Lithuanian and European artists, in celebration of his 150th birthday in 2025. Čiurlionis's creative spirit knew no bounds, diving into music composition, painting, poetry and artistic photography, the last of which received the recognition it deserves only recently.

The building is currently used by the Permanent Representation of Lithuania, and we have strict security measures in place to ensure smooth and safe experience for all guests. We kindly ask for visitors to arrive exactly on their registered time and bring their National IDs. Admissions after start of the tour, without prior registration or without ID, will not be accommodated. For smoother security process, we recommed visitors to come only with small bags, no backpacks or larger size bags will be allowed. No pets are allowed. Wandering around the building without guides or other staff is strictly forbiden.
